'Nicest Young Man': Flight Passenger Goes Viral After Meeting Travis Hunter

An airline passenger is going viral after she found out that the "nicest young man" who sat next to her on a flight was Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter.

In a Facebook post on Saturday (May 10), Sandy Hawkins Combs gushed over her encounter with Hunter, the Colorado football star who was drafted No. 2 overall to the Jaguars.

Combs explained that she had unknowingly sat next to Hunter on her United Airlines flight back home from Denver.

“I had the most wonderful flight home from Denver. I met the nicest young man who sat next to me,” Combs posted to Facebook. “He offered to put my bag in the overhead compartment and helped me with my tray. He was always polite, saying ‘yes ma’am’ or ‘no ma’am.’ Anyone would be proud to have him as a son or grandson—so polite.”

Combs discovered Hunter's identity after several people on the flight congratulated the NFL rookie and started taking pictures with him.

“I turned and asked him, ‘Who am I sitting next to?’” Combs continued in her Facebook post. “I looked at his Jaguar pants, smiled, and asked, ‘Are you an athlete?’

“He smiled and said, ‘I’m Travis. Yes, I was drafted by the Jags.’ I already told my sons I want his jersey," she recalled.

Combs said she will be supporting the Heisman trophy winner and his new team.

“He’s so humble and down-to-earth—I would have never guessed he was a professional athlete,” Combs wrote. “JACKSONVILLE JAGS, you did good! I will be buying tickets.”
