A 5-year-old girl is being hailed as a hero after she helped save her mom's life.
On Wednesday (September 25), five-year-old Zoey Reddick was honored by the local police department in Skokie, Illinois for helping save her mom after she fainted in May, per Good Morning America.
Reddick calmly called 911 when her mom became unresponsive.
"Um, I was in my room and I was watching TV, and my mom just fainted. Can you come hurry? I already called my poppy and my grandma," Reddick said during the 911 call.
Reddick's mom, Jessica, who's recovered from the incident, said she fainted from seizure-like activity. The mom said she was shocked when she learned that her daughter, a kindergarten student, knew to call 911.
"I was in total shock, like, 'Who called 911?'" Jessica told WLS-TV. "And they're like, 'Your daughter.' And I couldn't believe it."
Jessica hailed her daughter as a hero, nicknaming her "super Zoey."
"I was just totally blown away, the way that she remained calm, the way that she gave 100% accurate information," the mom said.
Zoey said she took deep breaths to stay calm during the situation.
"I took 10 deep breaths... 10 deep breaths, so I calmed down," Zoey said. "I was panicking, but I calmed down."
