Actress Erica Ash, known for her roles in the series Real Husbands of Hollywood and the sitcom Survivor's Remorse, has died, according to NPR. She was 46.
On Monday (July 29), Ash's family shared a statement confirming the actress died after a battle with cancer.
"After a long and courageous battle with cancer, she transitioned peacefully surrounded by her loved ones," her family's statement reads. "Erica was an amazing woman and talented entertainer who touched countless lives with her sharp wit, humor, and genuine zest for life. Her memory will live eternally in our hearts."
Ash was born in Florida on September 19, 1977. She attended Emory University where she earned a premed degree before beginning her acting career on Broadway with credits in Baby It's You, The Lion King, and the Off-Broadway show Soul Doctor.
The Florida native went on to land roles on The Big Gay Sketch Show and MADtv.
Ash also starred as Bridgette Hart in Real Husbands of Hollywood, a parody show created by Kevin Hart, and Starz drama Survivor's Remorse.
The actress' film credits include Scary Movie 5 and the 2023 Netflix film We Have a Ghost.
“Erica Ash was a light. Beautiful, funny, beyond talented. I was blessed to work with her and call her my friend. My heart goes out to her family and friends right now,” Christopher Landon, who directed the Netflix film, said in a statement.
On Monday, BET shared an Instagram tribute in remembrance of Ash.
“Today, #BETRemembers actress and comedienne Erica Ash who has passed away at the age of 46. Known for being equal parts witty and funny, Erica starred in BET favorites such as legal drama “In Contempt” and reality spoof “Real Husbands of Hollywood”. We send our deepest condolences and love to her parents, siblings, friends, and family. Fly high Queen,” BET wrote on Instagram.
