Six people have been identified as victims of the Nashville school shooting on Monday (March 27).
Audrey Hale, a 28-year-old former student, opened fire at the Covenant School, killing three, nine-year-old children, a teacher, a custodian, and the school's head, per BBC News.
Katherine Koonce was the head of the Covenant School. One parent called her a "saint."
"She did so much for those kids," the parent told BBC News. "And now gave her life protecting them."
"She knew every single student by name," she continued. "She did everything to help them when families couldn't afford things, it didn't matter. She found ways for them to stay."
Mike Hill, another victim of the shooting, was a custodian at the school.
Tim Dunavant, who previously worked at Covenant and hired Hill over 13 years ago, said he would miss his "encouraging texts out of the blue." Dunavant added that he wouldn't be surprised if Hill put his own life on the line to help save others because "he's the kind of guy that would do that".
Cynthia Peak was serving as a substitute teacher at the school when she was killed in the attack. Hallie Scruggs, Evelyn Dieckhaus, and William Kinney were the nine-year-old students who were shot and killed on Monday.
Dieckhaus' older sister cried at a church service held hours after the shooting.
"I don't want to be an only child," the sister said, per the Tennessean.
According to police, the victims weren't specifically targeted by the shooter.
